Marxist Center Delegates Council statement on recent arrests of Colorado protesters

Over the past two weeks, at least nine protesters have been arrested in Colorado Springs, Fountain, and Denver, Colorado. These activists are being prosecuted on trumped-up felony charges after two sets of violent, coordinated home-raids by local police. Those arrested include but are not limited to members of the Party for Socialism and Liberation, Frontline Party for Revolutionary Action, and the Front Range Workers Initiative for Liberation and Defense (WILD), as well as unaffiliated anti-racist and community activists.

The Marxist Center wishes to extend our unconditional solidarity toward all those arrested. We will always raise our voices in support of those who are persecuted for the crime of opposing a corrupt, racist, and ableist legal system. We join you in a united front against state repression of our movement.

In a scenario we have seen repeated across the country, the District Attorneys pressing these charges have prioritized crushing dissent over protecting Black Lives: while they allow the killer cops who murdered Elijah McClain to walk free, they subject freedom fighters to the full force of the coercive apparatus. Every protester knows that under the current regime, one can easily be killed, maimed, or imprisoned for simply speaking up or peaceably assembling. Our only defense in the face of this threat is our solidarity. Any successful attempt by the capitalist state to smash the movement for racial justice will be eagerly duplicated by agents of the ruling class elsewhere.

We appeal to all those who cherish their civil liberties and envision a world without racism or police brutality to stand with the Colorado nine.
