Update July 1st, 2019: The Marxist Center has now opened at-large membership. If you are applying for at-large membership, please fill out the form below. We expect to follow up with you in the coming weeks. Please be patient as we have a great deal of applications being processed by a handful of individuals.
The Marxist Center has now constituted itself as a national organization, consisting of (at present count) 19 local collectives. Our conference-approved delegate’s council has had several meeting and we’re starting to get the ball rolling on a number of tasks.
Now that the first phase of organizational consolidation is completed, we are opening up applications to affiliate by collectives (i.e. group affiliation) as well as individual at-large affiliation. Applications for collective affiliation will be considered from both independent collectives as well as caucuses or fractions operating within previously-existing socialist groups. Individual at-large applications are welcome from comrades who are already members of another socialist or working class organization.
For collective affiliation: the first step will be meeting with members of your organization / caucus and voting to accept the MC points of unity, abide by the existing affiliation requirements, and to seek affiliation with the network.
Next, please email mc [at] regenerationmag [dot] org with information about your group: its political orientation, mass work you’re involved in or planning, number of members, action history, statement of principles, conflict resolution within the group, etc.
If any members of your collective have been expelled from previous organizations, participated in a community accountability or restorative process as an accused party, or been accused of assault or harassment, please include this information in your application and offer an explanation.
Once we have received your application, it will be looked over by members of the delegate’s council, who reserve the right to accept *or* reject any application. There will be a vetting process which may involve phone calls or interviews before a final vote is taken by the delegate’s council. The entire process may take 2-3 months, so please be patient with us.
For individual at-large affiliation: the first step will be meeting with members of your organization / caucus and voting to reading over and accepting the MC points of unity, and making a commitment to abide by the existing affiliation requirements.
Next, you should consider how you can best support the efforts of the network: can you pay $5 a month to help fund our work? can you help start up a local chapter? can you write, edit, moderate, design, or otherwise contribute through remote work in some way?
Finally, we ask that you fill out the form below honestly and to the best of your knowledge. We will email you to follow up within a few weeks depending on the number of applications we are processing at any given time. Please be patient with us if we do not respond immediately; we are doing the best we can with limited resources.
